The Arts and Conservancy at Saint Peter’s offers gallery space to artists whose lives and work explore the many dimensions of art. With these exhibitions, The Conservancy intends to enrich the community and to provoke dialogue regarding art’s place in cultural, religious, and daily life.
GENERAL INFORMATION
The Art and Architecture Review Committee (AARC) of Saint Peterʼs Church juries submissions. The committee accepts and reviews submissions on a rolling basis throughout the year.
Digital submissions are strongly preferred. Do not send original artwork for review. Established and emerging artists are invited to submit. Submissions from artists' groups and from independent curators are welcome. Such submissions should be specific exhibition proposals, and not simply catalogs of available work.
Persons having previously exhibited at Saint Peterʼs Church must allow five years to lapse before submitting another proposal. Out of fairness, members of the AARC and Saint Peterʼs Church are precluded from exhibiting.
Shows are generally scheduled to run for six to seven weeks. For convenience, images of both the Narthex Gallery (for large-sized work) and the Living Room Gallery (for medium- and small- sized work), are available at saintpeters.org. Onsite visits are also welcome.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
Name of artist, contact information (including telephone and email), and a brief description of the submission. Additional information, such as a résumé or artist statement, is appreciated, though not required. Please do not send exhibition catalogs, books, printed photographs, large-format transparencies, etc. unless it is felt that such materials are essential for presenting the work.
Images of specific work intended to be shown at Saint Peterʼs Church. Send no fewer than five (5) and no greater than ten (10) images. Acceptable formats include CD-ROM or DVD, website link, JPG or another image file as an email attachment, *slides. If the method used includes a greater number of images than is within the scope of the submission (for example, a CD covers multiple projects), please be certain to indicate which images are part of, as well as which images are not part of, the series intended to be shown.
*Slides must be sent in a plastic slide sheet. Label each slide individually with the artist's name, and the title and dimension of the artwork. Additionally, indicate the proper viewing direction (an “up” arrow, for
example).
A formatted (digital or printed, not handwritten) directory of images. Include the title, dimensions, and media for each piece. Also include information about how the show might be hung, paying particular attention to any extraordinary considerations and logistics.
In addition to #2 above, the following must be submitted in digital form (by email, preferred; CD-ROM or DVD):
- no fewer than two (2) **images (.JPG, preferred) of specific artwork that would be included in the show,
- corresponding description (title, dimension, and materials) of those images, and
- 500 to 750 word statement about the show, inclusive of biographical information.
Images must be cropped 456 (tall) and 612 (wide). In the event a submission is accepted, this information will be used for the gallery’s website. By sending, you give Saint Peterʼs Church and its partners in presenting these gallery spaces the right to edit and use images, descriptions and statement in a variety of formats.
** Images may be sent at a later date only in the event that the work is not yet complete
