David Francis Gibson was born on March 7, 1953, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to George A. Gibson Sr. and Frances M. Gibson. While our mother was a devoted wife and mother to five children, our father worked full-time as a welder at Strick Trailer in Fairless Hills, Pa., and often spent weekends working as a mechanic in Philadelphia. Our parents instilled in us the importance of education, a strong work ethic, and the belief that whatever we chose to do in life, we should strive to be the best we could be.
