The Conservancy Staff


Jared R. Stahler, Executive Director

Jared R. Stahler provides leadership for the Conservancy’s administration, coordinates the organization’s relationship to its partners and provides direction for the rebuilding of arts spaces destroy by a 2021 New York City waterman break. Since 2016 he has shepherded the process of restoring Louise Nevelson’s sculptural masterwork commissioned for Saint Peter’s and has led the effort to continue to prepare the space for listing on the National Register of Historic Places.

Stahler is an alumnus of Yale University and the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music. He serves as the Senior Pastor of Saint Peter’s Church, leading the institution at a crucial moment for redevelopment in Midtown. He has served on a number of boards of and has been a consultant for a number of not-for-profit organizations.

Vincent Carr, Artistic Director

A seasoned arts professional with more than 25 years of experience, Vincent Carr serves as the Artistic Director of the Arts and Architecture Conservancy. His various career roles have allowed him to work closely and collaboratively with educational and religious institutions, as well as nonprofit community-based organizations. As Artistic Director, he oversees the conservancy’s ambitious programming calendar spanning dance, theatre, classical and jazz musics as well as the art spaces that include Nevelson Chapel.

Carr received undergraduate degrees from the prestigious Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and later went on to pursue a graduate degree at Yale University. An experienced college professor for more than a decade, he held posts at Indiana University, Montclair State University and William Paterson University. He has crafted concert series, symposia and special arts-related events all throughout NYC metro area and the Midwest. In 2007, he founded a concert series for children, senior citizens and the homebound in the city of Newark called “Wednesdays at Noon” that has enriched the lives of more than 10,000 people.

As a professional musician, he has held prominent posts as organist, conductor and music director all around the United States. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists as well as an Associate and Choir Master of the American Guild of Organists. His performances have included collaborations with venerable institutions like the Richard Alston Dance Company and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. He has also created original music for film and mixed media art installations as well as festivals in operetta and musical theater.


Rebekah Thornhill, Director of Development

Rebekah Thornhill advances giving goals and strategies for the Conservancy.

Graduating from Gustavus Adolphus College, she earned a Master of Arts from Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York in Theology and the Arts. Thornhill has previously worked as Director of Marketing and Events in non-profit organizations. She also owns and manages a creative business centered on digital manufacturing with sustainable resources. As a small business owner she has worked to advocate for and support other local businesses through involvement with professional organizations.

Rebekah shares a deep commitment towards art engagement and advocacy. She seeks to find ways for individual passions to align with the mission of the Conservancy.
