About the art and artist
One Winter night Charles Yoder went from "abstract painter" to "realist painter" by stepping out of his house into his backyard. A full moon had cast dancing shadows of pine boughs across the snow covered forest floor. In that instant, his art changed. Everything he was looking for in art was literally at his feet.
Now the thing seen dictates its own creation and is complete with its own rhythms of light and dark. A glimpse provides the content and the work becomes a meditation on that glimpse.
The 23rd Psalm aptly provided the title "Still Waters and Shadows," as these newer paintings are based on water, reflections and shadows.
