Nature, once again, inspired the Argentinian painter María de Echevarría to create a set of abstract and semi-abstract landscapes, of which more than 20 are presented in this exhibit. “In all these paintings my aim is to convey my emotional response and artistic vision to the magnificent light and colors observed in fields, skies and water from dawn to sunset.”
María started painting in 1991. Since then, her art education has been the never-ending process that takes place mainly during the actual act of painting. There is also the study and direct observation of works by masters like Georgia O’Keeffe and Mark Rothko. She took classes at The Art Student League of New York and studied under the Peruvian painter Reynaldo Bisetti in New York.
De Echevarría has shown her work extensively in and out of New York. Examples in New York are the one-artist exhibits at the United Nations Headquarters, the Living Room Gallery of Saint Peter’s Church and the Consulate of Argentina. Galleries in SoHo and Chelsea have presented her work in individual and group shows as well.
María has also presented her work in galleries in New Mexico (Santa Fe and Albuquerque) and Florida (Tallahassee and Fort Lauderdale). In Buenos Aires she exhibited at the Annual Exhibition of Contemporary Argentine Art at the Palacio San Martín and the international art fair ExpoTrastiendas.
Private, governmental and corporate collections have her works, and globally distributed magazines have had her paintings on the cover. María has studios in the New York area and in Santa Fe, where she feels in communion with the desert, mountains and open skies.
