The Feminine Mystique
Donna Faranda 08.02.2018 - 11.09.2018 Living Room Gallery
About the work
Donna Faranda has created works on paper for the past 30 years, but has not utilized a paint brush since she discovered that she could create art work on her computer. The computer has become the tools of her medium. She creates her compositions using a collage of images organized in Adobe Photoshop. After that she imports the composition into Corel Painter, a raster-image computer program, on which, working on an overlay or tracing paper she can place each individual dot by clicking on her mouse.
Out of an array of colors her pointillist pieces come to life helping her to construct through the use of these programs, a means of creating a drama consisting of reflections of women’s inner stories. While working, she employs elements of collage in her paintings to conjure up images created from a mixture of fantasy, mood and symbolism, blended together in a variety of ways to, in her own words, “create my own world.”
