On March 13, 2025—Roy Haynes’ 100th birthday—the Arts and Architecture Conservancy presented a heartfelt Jazz Memorial and Centennial Celebration at Saint Peter’s Church (619 Lexington Ave). The event drew a devoted gathering of friends, family, and fellow musicians to mark a century of influence from one of jazz’s most dynamic drummers.

The ceremony featured stirring performances and personal reflections, highlighting Roy’s unmatched career—from swinging with Lester Young and Charlie Parker to later collaborations with Chick Corea and Pat Metheny. It was a moment of communal gratitude for a lifetime of innovation and mentorship.

Saint Peter’s sanctuary echoed with celebration—not just for Roy’s past achievements, but for his enduring spirit of creativity and inspiration. This centennial tribute continues the church’s tradition of honoring jazz legends whose music and legacy resonate with generations.
