Sculptures on view at Saint Peter’s are part of Chihuly’s Macchia series, placed after his “Persian Window” installation here in 1994. Italian for “spotted” or “stained,” Macchia refers to the artist’s spontaneity and use of vibrant colors in his glasswork, representative of the natural world.
