Elizabeth Jordan with Shannon Boyle exhibit Written Offerings in the Narthex Gallery at Saint Peter's Church January 17, 2012 - February 20, 2012. Free and open to the public daily.
The show is a participatory experience in which viewers put the power of prayer and positive thoughts into action by writing their reactions directly on the images, graffiti-style. The exhibitions diverse imagery includes large-scale photos of children from near and far, all of whom are in need of prayer. The final image is a mirror on which viewers can write prayers for themselves. The works aim to inspire hope, healing and spiritual reflection. All the exhibition's photographs are for sale, with all profits going to charity.
This installation is presented by Midtown Arts Common and Saint Peter's Church.
About the artists
Elizabeth Jordan works to facilitate social change through photography. Her depictions of people in war-torn and developing countries have been featured around the world.
Shannon Boyle is a freelance photographer with a master's degree in social work. She combines her passions, creating images both artistic and thought-provoking, encouraging spiritual awareness.
